Katrina's Wrath

I don't usually blog about news because this is a personal blog and you all go to news sites for news. Today I can't help it though, Katrina's wrath is bone chilling. My heart goes out to all the people affected by the storm. The pictures gave me cold chills. They remind me of going through Hurricane Hugo years ago.  My parents and I lived in Charleston, SC during HH and that was seriously the closest I've ever come to seeing what a war torn America would look like. I recall people selling ice for five dollars a bag and bread being sold as if it were the last loaf for miles. Houses were totally demolished and the floods were so bad we walked where we needed to go with water up to our knees.  Katrina makes Hugo look like a honey instead of a hurricane. According to reports this could be the worst storm we've had in a hundred years.

It sure makes me thankful that my loved ones are safe and sad at the same time that so many others are not.

Sideways

We just finished watching Sideways. OMG- that was hilarious. I wish I would have seen that in the theatre. I laughed out loud several times and that hardly ever happens anymore when I watch movies. If you haven't seen it check it out. It's on payper view. It was well worth the 3.99 we paid for it. We are so behind with our movie watching! When we were in LA this would have never happened!

I totally have to tip my hat to MC Gainey for his role as Cammi's husband in this movie. I was rolling when he ran out of the house buck naked. It took a lot of courage and a no shame attitude for him to take that role! Kudos to you MC.

Being fat is not easy.

Dr. Terry Bennett was reprimanded for telling his patient she was fat. Being obese is hard to face. If you are, by the time you realize where you are – you are you are so far into your problem it's hard to find a way out.

Do you think a doctor is right or wrong for telling a patient he/she is fat? I don't think they are wrong, I think they are doing their job. The full job is to take the responsibility of educating the patient on how to take the weight off and helping them through the process.

The most difficult issuefor a doctor willing to do that is finding a tool that helps the individual. What helps one person may not work for another. A good doctor will look at his patient as an individual and help him/her find the method that is right for them.

My heart goes out to all those with this problem, I too was once obese. Taking off those extra pounds was the hardest thing I've ever had to face and overcome. Nonetheless, it was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

For those of you who are fighting that uphill battle know you've got a friend in me.  Today I'm in my ideal weight range but I've once been way off - probably even further behind than you could imagine. I made it to my goal and you can too – with the right tools. If you need a friend to lean on email me, I'm there for you!

Keep on keepin' on and make your goal a reality!
