Katrina's Wrath

I don't usually blog about news because this is a personal blog and you all go to news sites for news. Today I can't help it though, Katrina's wrath is bone chilling. My heart goes out to all the people affected by the storm. The pictures gave me cold chills. They remind me of going through Hurricane Hugo years ago.  My parents and I lived in Charleston, SC during HH and that was seriously the closest I've ever come to seeing what a war torn America would look like. I recall people selling ice for five dollars a bag and bread being sold as if it were the last loaf for miles. Houses were totally demolished and the floods were so bad we walked where we needed to go with water up to our knees.  Katrina makes Hugo look like a honey instead of a hurricane. According to reports this could be the worst storm we've had in a hundred years.

It sure makes me thankful that my loved ones are safe and sad at the same time that so many others are not.

It looks as bad as the Asian Tsunami. I cannot imagine having to wade around in fetid water, or sweating bullets in the flooded Superdome without a working toilet or a shower. Everytime I think I am having a shitty day, I have to be thankful that I am not in these poor people's circumstances.
That must have been scary for you dealing with Hugo as a kid. How old where you then?

I learn something new about you all the time. I didn't know that you went through HH.
I am shocked and deeply concerned for the people in New Orleans. What a terrible tragedy.

It definitely is a terrible tragedy that left several people homeless; we all can do something that will help these people by donating some of our money, to the RED CROSS.
Let's do something that makes a difference.
