Do you remember your dreams?

I came across this article and thought it was interesting. Tonight I will try and remember my dreams. This sounds fun. I dream but I never remember what I dream usually past two minutes after waking up. Sometimes later in the day I'll think “I dreamt something great last night, what was it?” And, I can never remember.
Chris dreams almost everynight. He usually remembers his dreams and tells them over breakfast if they were interesting. His family told me he's been doing this since he was a kid… cute. Maybe I'll have some good breakfast material tomorrow. :)
Do you remember your dreams? What do you dream about?

I actually do remember most of the dreams I have at night. I use to keep a dream journal when i was younger

I usually have the most vivid (and easier to remember) dreams, when I get up, feed the pets, and then go back to bed. That one hour of sleep is usually filled with the most bizarre dreams, that I wake up startled and thinking, “WTF?”.
If I have a really weird dream; sometimes, I'll call someone- who I know is an early riser, and tell them about it, so I won't forget it.
(Don't worry, I won't be calling you guys to tell you about my dreams, as I know you stay up till all hours of the night! heh-heh.)

I almost never remember my dreams. A friend of mine once theorized that this is because I process and analyze so much during the day that I don't need to use my sleep time for that. Maybe that's true. Dunno.
This morning I was aware of having dreamed right before I woke up. Now, an hour or so later, I can't really remember any details, just that it had to do with a vague sense of dissatisfaction about my day job. Of course, I feel that during the day, too. :-)
Does anyone else consciously use their dream life to make sense of their waking life? Or do y'all generally think of dream life and waking life as separate realities that don't intersect?
(BTW, The film Waking Life, by Richard Linklater, is a really cool exploration of the question “Are we sleep-walking through our waking state or wake-walking through our dreams?” If you haven't seen it, I recommend it highly.)

Not only do I remember my dreams, I'm a lucid dreamer. I can know that I'm dreaming and take over the dream. If I get too carried away I wake myself up. Usually right when it's getting to the GOOD part. :(

I usually dream in color and remember many but not all of my dreams. I also can take over the dream and when it gets too scary (sometimes this happens) I wake myself up. Also, for those who have problems remembering dreams, you may have a B-complex vitamin shortage. Take one B-50 complex per day and you will have vivid dreams for sure.

I'm taking my B complex vitamins daily! I can't say I can control my dreams, yet. I do dream in color. A sort of grainy independent film color though. Not technicolor The Wizard of Oz… maybe I should double up on my B's. lol

For some reason I remember a dream I had when I was younger about me being outside and getting chased by a creature, and my Grand-mother is there, but my parents are missing. I remember this dream since about 10 years ago, anyone know why?

As mentioned by others, B vitamins are important. But B-6 is key. I recommend you take a 100 mg B-6 on an empty stomach in the morning. While at it, take 800 mcg of folic acid at the same time.
It won’t take long to start remembering your dreams (if this works for you). And at the same time, the folic acid will help prevent a number of problems, especially if you are of child bearing age.

I too dream in color almost all the time. I also can control when I want to wake myself up, but it always seems that as soon as I fall asleep again I go straight back into the dream. It’s so frustrating. Sometime I also wake up feeling like there are bugs crawling all over me (if i dreamed about that) and I freak out and jump out of my bed.
My mom used to say that you always dream about what you are worried about or what has happened to you recently, but I normally dream about what I want to happen. (when it’s a good dream of couse)
About remembering old dreams..my personal theory is that we somehow blur the line between reality and imagination and our dream gets stored in our memory as an event. But I could be way off :)

I’ve always remembered all of my dreams even from years ago. I can’t recall them on demand, it’s more like hundreds of flashbacks all the time. This is overwhelming as they are so detailed. If I wrote about them it would take at least an hour because of all the content. Colors, sounds, tastes, etc are always present.
This is too much for me and I awake exhausted and with a migraine if they are even more intense than already. I’m desperate to find a way to filter these “intrusions.” Any suggestions?

I can control my dreams more than I should be able to. It’s really kind of freaky and no one really believes me when I try to explain how it works. Before I fall asleep, I will lie in my bed and think about what I want to dream about. Then I close my eyes and while I am still awake I visualize whatever it is that I want. Next think you know my mind takes over and I can literally see in color and amazing detail. I’m sure their is some scientific explanation for it, but I still think its pretty cool!

Yeah I find this all very interesting, I too am able to remember my dreams. However, there has never been a time I didn’t dream in color in my life. Sometimes if I am in a dream and I know, I can just tell that whats going on isn’t real I can take control. Not just of the content of the dream but the phyics of the dream world. For instance I have been able to fly in my dreams on more than one occassion. I use to be a huge GTA fan and one night after playing far to much of it I dreamed I was in my home town but it was GTA in that my consequences had no actions thats when I flew in my dream. Also another really crazy question sometimes I will have incrediabely vivdid dream months in advance of a situation and then a few months later I will get a dejavu that i know exactly what is going to happen next in the present situation from viewing it in a dream. I also believe that if I do something in my dream I that i have never done before i can acomplish this task when I wake up. I am very interested to hear if anyone else has had similar experiances.

Lucid dreaming is awesome!! I figured i would post a comment because i had a lucid dream last night! I havent taken the time to fully control my dreams yet. But occasionally i have a lucid dream. I heard you dream several times a night. DM Galvin i dont know if its safe or smart that is to take 100mg of b6. the normal dose needed is 1.3 mg for males(not sure for females) so thats highly above it i heard to much can cause nerve damage and so on. Dreamer i do believe your kinda right about the line of imagination and thinking it was reality. Its called false memorys i have read several documents on the topic .”A false memory is a memory which is a distortion of an actual experience, or a confabulation of an imagined one. Many false memories involve confusing or mixing fragments of memory events, some of which may have happened at different times but which are remembered as occurring together. Many false memories involve an error in source memory. Some involve treating dreams as if they were playbacks of real experiences”
