>Chris and I have been on a whirlwind trip of Iowa and North Carolina.
Wow. Sounds just like the movie Roman Holiday (1953).
Ponzi: Do you have a silk nightgown with rosebuds?
Chris: I haven't worn a nightgown in years!
Chris has always reminded me of a nerdy Gregory Peck. Ponzi too.
Plot Summary for
Roman Holiday (1953)
(My apologies to Colin Tinto and "filmfactsman", whose work I am satirizing).
1. Princess Ponzi is touring Iowa (Conrad was from Council Bluffs), and decides to get 'out and about' away from her normal life. She meets with an American web author and his computer, who show her the sites. The web author is initially more interested in a story than the Princess, but begins to fall for Her Highness...
2. Princess Ponzi embarks on a highly publicized tour of Midwest diners. When she and her royal entourage arrive in Iowa, she begins to rebel against her restricted, regimented schedule. One night Ponzi sneaks out of her room, hops into the back of a pickup truck and escapes her luxurious confinement. However, a sedative she was forced to take earlier starts to take effect, and the princess is soon baked out of her gourd on a public bench. She is found by Chris Pirillo, an American blogger stationed in Charlotte. He takes her back to his apartment (to show her his home network). The next morning Chris dashes off to cover the Princess Ponzi shopping spree, unaware that she is sleeping on his couch! Once he realizes his good fortune, Chris promises his blog critics an exclusive interview with the princess. Ultimately she eats a stick of the most amazing and sensational gum in the whole universe and she ends up a blueberry. It's weird.
The End

Visiting Asheville never seems to work for me. It's too close to the Dragon. I can't resist the temptation of motorcycling fun on the mountain roads. I went to northern South Carolina for a LAN party and never played a single game. I spent the entire time riding.
