The Blog Business Summit

Blogging my business, the business of blogging, blogging about business, blogging about blogging and making it a business.
How lucky I am to be in a world where I can say “yes” to having done all of the above. More importantly, IÂ am surrounded by really smart people who are also doing these things (and are much better at it than I am). Rule one: you must participate in conversation by writing on your blog. Rule two: you must link. Rule three: you must enjoy it enough to “rinse and repeat.”
Creating longevity in a world of constant movement is a hard act to keep up with. I still take issue with the first rule, so I’m not among the most favored. Still, there is this enticing romance with my blog that keeps me drawn in. I think about erasing it. I think about starting a secret blog that no one knows is there (but me).
I think about why I want to blog – and don’t.
Or, I wonder why I’m afraid to blog things I once wasn’t afraid to blog. The whole point, you ask? I still like my blog and want to devote “think space” to it. It proves to me that I’m still attached. Even if I don’t care for it daily (stroking its hair 100 times before bed, loving it, and calling it George), it doesn’t mean I that don’t respect it. I do. Just in my way. I love that my blog has connected me with other people – and that my blog gives me a small portal to them from time to time. Bloggy love. Awww! Now let’s put dollar-sign pillows on the BlogBed and see what happens. Oh, yes - the Blog Business Summit!!!
If you are into business or into blogging (and hey – who isn’t) then hopefully we’ll see you at the Blog Business Summit. Whether you’re a blogger, a blog reader, or even if you’re still trying to figure out how blogging and business can possibly go together – it’s probably for you. Learn something new, share something learned – just share and it’ll be worth your time.
Thinking about the upcoming conference makes me wonder if I should write more about the business side of my life?
Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Great blog. I really enjoyed visiting your site. The layout is simple yet functional. Just getting started with my own blog, and I understand the work you must have already invested. Keep up the good work.

Blogging about your passion is your best bet. If you are needing to share your insights on a book that you just can’t put down, then blog about it. If you simply need to vent about something that someone with no common sense did to you (your car), blog about it.
With that said, my only rules for blogging are to never blog about politics or religion. Short of that, it’s an open field. Most importantly though, never blog unless you are truly wanting to that day. Don’t just do it out of some self-imposed obligation. Seriously, I ought to know. ;)

Ponzi,
It was great to see you and Chris at the blogging summit last week. You both look happy and healthy. Sorry we didn’t get to chat much. Thanks for the post above, it kind of sums up my feelings about this blogging world that I’m very new to. In my biz, I don’t get the time I would like to blog or to visit the blogging buddies that I’ve made and become addicted to. I’ll never forget a year ago last summer when you and Chris and I had just started out looking at homes here in Seattle and you mentioned what you guys did for a living. ‘Blogging and podcasting’. I felt really stupid at the time as I hadn’t ever heard either term so hence not a clue as to what it was. Had a few guesses is all and as I mentioned last Thursday on the summit panel, ‘you and Chris didn’t look like deep sea fishermen to me’. Anyway, thanks for educating me and keep up the blog as you among others are my blogging idols. Look forward to seeing you guys in December.
