I need a "picture person"

This is so cool. It’s a van with a “picture person” who becomes your very own digital scanner. I have some how acquired all the important pictures of my family. Well, not all of them but a good many. Each time I look at  the neat little bundles of tied pics I feel a pang of guilt. They should all be scanned and put on several discs then mailed to everyone who cares about them. Yes, I know. I also know I’m the only one who knows how to do it… but who has the time?!!!

That’s why I like the Kodak van idea. One problem they aren’t in my area yet. For now only available in SoCal area. Hopefully they’ll add more vans to the their troop soon! If you’re in Southern Cali can the van over and get your stuff digitized. I’m telling you burn discs for all your aunts and uncles and soak up the “oohs and ahhs and what a great idea for a gift” moments - it is so worth it. You can’t make those pics again. And, a little bit of sentiment is a beautiful thing.

Who has the time? We all do! We all don’t! One of my new years resolutions is to have a Surf the Web Scantastic weekend… an appointed time to do a bunch of scanning. Knowing that other people are doing the same thing, too. (I came up with this while writing about NY Resolutions for a Carnival of Genealogy)

So..if you knew it was an event, if there was a chat room to join or a conference call to join or a Gizmo project conference room to join while you’re scanning, knowing that other people are doing the same thing that weekend, would it get you over the hump?

I haven’t declared a date for it yet because I’ve been scrambling to get some work done to make up for That Awful Fall (bad back, S.O.’s mom’s illness and death).

Yes, I would do it if we planned it Susan! :) That’s what I need to do, commit to it and get it done. Archiving is really more important than I want to believe it is.

What Do You Think?
